{"id":12835,"date":"2022-10-07T04:34:09","date_gmt":"2022-10-07T04:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qik.ety.mybluehost.me\/?p=12835"},"modified":"2024-06-18T11:55:57","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T11:55:57","slug":"memories-from-marketplace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caribbeantourismauthority.com\/staging\/1605\/memories-from-marketplace\/","title":{"rendered":"Memories from Marketplace"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>As Caribbean tourism stakeholders make their way back to their respective homes, they are no doubt reflecting on their in-person connections with colleagues \u2013 old and new \u2013 during the 40th edition of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) <strong>Caribbean Travel Marketplace<\/strong> in San Juan, Puerto Rico this week.<\/p>\n<p>There is tremendous optimism about <strong>the future of regional tourism<\/strong>, especially given the strong increases in arrivals many destinations have experienced this year.<\/p>\n<p>While challenges exist \u2013 ranging from <strong>labor shortages<\/strong> to <strong>air connectivity<\/strong> and <strong>the cost of travel<\/strong> \u2013 there is a refreshing collective public-private sector resolve to fix many of the issues that could reverse the recent gains the industry has enjoyed.<\/p>\n<p>Many stakeholders remain concerned about <strong>sustainability<\/strong>. The matter is not limited to protecting and preserving the natural assets of the region, but also ensuring that the benefits of tourism redound to the true stakeholders of tourism \u2013 the people of the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that in the upcoming weeks and months, several more meetings and discussions are scheduled aimed at taking the region forward. With such robust political will and action-oriented planning, there is good reason to be optimistic. The region must now cement its strategy for a truly sustainable sector, <strong>one destination at a time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"column\"><img class=\"lazyload_inited\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/0439a4d8001\/24c71e80-fd23-473a-8e93-2e599b2cd909.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">St. Lucia\u2019s branding was rich and vibrant.
