{"id":12895,"date":"2022-12-01T04:00:46","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T04:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qik.ety.mybluehost.me\/?p=12895"},"modified":"2024-06-19T06:39:09","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T06:39:09","slug":"live-boricua-campaign-fuels-interest-in-areas-outside-san-juan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caribbeantourismauthority.com\/staging\/1605\/live-boricua-campaign-fuels-interest-in-areas-outside-san-juan\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cLive Boricua\u201d campaign fuels interest in areas outside San Juan"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><b>Puerto Rico<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s lively <\/span><b>\u201cLive Boricua\u201d campaign<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is returning strong results as the island highlights its heritage and natural assets, inviting visitors to connect more meaningfully with local people and places, according to <\/span><b>Alisha Valentine<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Director of Research &amp; Analytics for Discover Puerto Rico.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking in Dallas at the recent <\/span><b>Skift Aviation Forum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> session on \u201cBuilding New Airline Connections in Puerto Rico\u201d, Valentine reported Puerto Rico made <\/span><b>significant investment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in its tourism marketing over the past two years to shore up its traditional markets on the U.S. east coast and Florida and saw <\/span><b>record demand<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, leading the island to move into new markets.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe were pleased to get some new routes from <\/span><b>Nashville<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>St. Louis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> specifically [and] a route from <\/span><b>Detroit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that is back up and running,\u201d said Valentine, who added that <\/span><b>Ohio<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Indianapolis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and additional markets in <\/span><b>Texas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201care always of interest\u201d. As <\/span><b>Midwest routes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> become established, her team will be \u201clooking even farther west\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While San Juan remains the major market, Puerto Rico has seen a <\/span><b>shift in its tourism landscape<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with visitors choosing to experience other parts of the island, including the mountainous regions and more remote beach areas.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Discover Puerto Rico is digging into data to understand markets where there is <\/span><b>demand for flights<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Territory is keen to work with airlines on analyzing and interpreting changes in visitor interest.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Originating from the Tainos, the indigenous people of Puerto Rico, \u201cBoricua\u201d is used by Puerto Ricans to identify themselves as well as their way of life and state of mind.
