{"id":13104,"date":"2023-02-02T07:03:13","date_gmt":"2023-02-02T07:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/qik.ety.mybluehost.me\/?p=13104"},"modified":"2024-06-18T10:38:49","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T10:38:49","slug":"low-cost-carrier-explores-puerto-rican-frontiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caribbeantourismauthority.com\/staging\/1605\/low-cost-carrier-explores-puerto-rican-frontiers\/","title":{"rendered":"Low-cost carrier explores Puerto Rican frontiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Frontier Airlines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which describes itself as an \u201cultra-low fare carrier\u201d, is doubling down on <\/span><b>service expansions to Puerto Rico<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, announcing new nonstop routes from seven U.S. cities and Cancun, beginning in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with expanded service to <\/span><b>San Juan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Aguadilla<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Frontier will begin offering flights to <\/span><b>Ponce<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Puerto Rico for the first time, and will serve more routes to Puerto Rico than any other airline flying the Caribbean skies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPuerto Rico is a hugely popular destination for leisure travelers as well as the large population of Puerto Ricans residing in the U.S. who enjoy returning to the island to visit friends and family,\u201d said <\/span><b>Daniel Shurz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, senior vice president, commercial, Frontier Airlines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new routes bring the airline\u2019s total number of nonstops to Puerto Rico to 19, with the <\/span><b>important Dallas, Texas market<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> being a highlight for many Lone Star state travelers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload_inited alignnone size-full wp-image-13106\" src=\"http:\/\/caribbeantourismauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/frontier1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Texas tends to buck national economic and resiliency trends and has traditionally delivered strong returns for the Caribbean tourism sector.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Brian Znotins, American Airlines\u2019 Vice President of Network &amp; Schedule Planning, recently talked up the importance of Austin, Texas to its flyers, asserting that the airline is \u201cwild for Austin\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Montego Bay, Jamaica; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Cancun, Mexico; and Nassau, Bahamas are among the regional destinations that can testify about the impact of nonstop flights from Austin, while several islands in the region enjoy nonstop flights from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Frontier\u2019s nonstop service will begin in May to Luis Mu\u00f1oz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) from Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW), DFW, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), Baltimore\/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), and Cancun International Airport (CUN).
