HAMILTON, Bermuda (May 20, 2026) — The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) has appointed South African Jan Hutton as its new chief executive officer, completing a search to replace Tracy Berkeley, who left the role a year ago.

Hutton, an international advisor to governments, businesses and organizations on destination competitiveness, most recently served as CEO of Australian Tourism Data Warehouse. Her career spans more than two decades across the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. She has held senior roles including managing director at Ogilvy Group, director at Nielsen, and chief marketing officer positions at Deloitte Consulting, South African Tourism, Destination Gold Coast and Destination NSW. She has also worked with global corporations including Salesforce, Barclays and BHP Group.

Widely regarded as a trusted voice for destinations navigating economic uncertainty and shifting consumer behavior, Hutton has received numerous industry honors. These include “Most Impactful Women Shaping Australian Travel & Tourism (2025),” “Most Influential CEO in Tourism Strategy (2023),” “Top 100 Global Travel Marketing Experts” by Travelstart, and “Top 50 Brand Marketer” by Skift. She has served on Australia’s THRIVE 2030 “Reimagining the Visitor Economy” panel and as a director on the Griffith Institute for Tourism advisory board.

Hutton will join the BTA on July 1. She plans to spend her first weeks listening to the team, industry partners and community leaders.

“She brings a wealth of experience in destination marketing, digital transformation and visitor economy strategy across three continents,” BTA Chairman William “Billy” Griffith said of the new CEO, who joins at a pivotal time as expanded hotel capacity, enhanced airlift and increased product investment lay important foundations for the future growth of the visitor economy.

Hutton said she is honored by the appointment and recognizes the responsibility it carries. “Before I do anything else, I’m here to listen,” she said. “The BTA team has been holding the line through a difficult period — they know this destination, they know this industry, and their perspective is essential. I’m coming in with eyes open.”

Acting CEO Erin Wright will return to her role as chief operating officer once Hutton starts.
