GRAND BAHAMA, The Bahamas — Eight members of The Bahamas’ Goodwill Swimming Championships team were recently recognized at Carnival’s Celebration Key following the team’s victory at the Goodwill Swimming Championships in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Grand Bahamian swimmers, accompanied by two chaperones, visited the cruise line’s Grand Bahama destination after helping The Bahamas capture its fourth consecutive championship title.
The team was welcomed by Carnival and Celebration Key executives before spending the day at a Supervilla cabana overlooking Starfish Lagoon.
The swimmers also met with members of Celebration Key’s Water Safety Department, including managers, supervisors and lifeguards, who provided a behind-the-scenes look at the destination’s water safety operations and discussed careers and responsibilities related to aquatic safety.
The visit formed part of Carnival Cruise Line’s sponsorship of the Goodwill swimming team and its broader community engagement efforts in The Bahamas, including support for youth development, education and sports.
“At Carnival, we believe investing in our youth is one of the most impactful ways we can give back to our communities,” said Philcher Grant, director of public affairs and community engagement for The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos Islands at Carnival Cruise Line.
“These athletes have dedicated countless hours to training, and we are honored to celebrate their achievements,” Grant said. “Their dedication, teamwork and perseverance have culminated in an incredible accomplishment.”
Grant said the swimmers’ success reflects the discipline and determination of young Bahamian athletes and provides inspiration for other youth across the archipelago.
The athletes also received special items during the visit, including Celebration Key merchandise and insulated water bottles for use during training and travel.
