Carnival Cruise Line helped hundreds of Grand Turk students start the new school year with confidence — and a little extra fun — during its first back-to-school giveaway on the island.
The free, family-friendly event brought students and their families together for an afternoon of food, games and community celebration. Carnival distributed hundreds of backpacks filled with essential supplies for primary, junior high and high school students. Attendees also received food and beverages, haircut vouchers and access to bouncy castles, face painting and other children’s activities.
The giveaway was made possible through Carnival’s collaboration with local vendors, businesses and community organizations across the Turks and Caicos Islands.
“Our back-to-school giveaways are among the highlights of our community calendar in several destinations each year, and we’re glad to now bring the program to Grand Turk,” said Philcher Grant, Carnival’s director of public affairs and community engagement for The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. “These events are about more than backpacks and supplies — they’re about showing up for families in the communities we call home and helping students start the school year with confidence and excitement.”
“Carnival’s generosity made a real difference for the students and families of Grand Turk,” said Francisco Hodge, general manager of the Grand Turk Cruise Center. “Seeing so many [children] smile and share their excitement [about] the start of the school year was a reminder of how much this partnership means to the Turks and Caicos.”
