Veteran Barbadian businessman and politician Ian Gooding-Edghill has been returned as minister of tourism and international transport following the swearing-in of Barbados’ new Cabinet on Monday at Carifesta House in Bridgetown today.
Gooding-Edghill, who also serves as chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), rejoins the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Mia Mottley after the Barbados Labour Party secured a decisive 30–0 sweep of Parliament in last week’s general election, defeating the Democratic Labour Party.
In other Cabinet appointments, Wilfred Abrahams was named attorney general, while Chris Sinckler, a former Democratic Labour Party finance minister, was appointed senior minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade.
Among Gooding-Edghill’s first official engagements will be presiding over CTO’s Spring Business Meeting, which gets under way next week in Hamilton, Bermuda.
