ST. MAARTEN (April 8, 2026) — There was jubilation in the Caribbean on Tuesday as Southwest Airlines inaugurated new international service from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in St. Maarten — a major milestone in the island’s growing air connectivity.

Southwest will operate daily nonstop flights between MCO and SXM, while weekend service from Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) on Saturdays and Sundays launches this weekend, opening yet another U.S. gateway to “The Friendly Island.”

This marks Southwest’s first new international destination since 2021. The island of St. Maarten is uniquely shared between the Netherlands’ constituent country of Sint Maarten and the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Martin.
